Terms of use

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form an agreement between you and LANARS AS, a company registered in Norway at Martin Linges vei 25, 1364 Fornebu, regarding your use of the Karma Match application and website ("the App").

By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility and your account

The App is intended for users aged 16 or over who are legally able to enter into a binding agreement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the App only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for activity carried out under your account. Please contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.

3. What Karma Match is — and what it is not

Karma Match generates astrological birth charts from the birth data you provide and presents readings such as daily horoscopes, compatibility comparisons, connection statistics and match suggestions.

The App is provided for entertainment, curiosity and personal reflection only.

• Astrology is a form of personal interpretation and entertainment rather than a scientifically validated method. No reading should be understood as a statement of fact about you, about another person, or about the future.
• The App does not provide, and is not a substitute for, professional advice of any kind — including medical, psychiatric, psychological, therapeutic, legal, financial, investment, tax, career or relationship counselling advice.
• Compatibility scores, "match strength" figures and similar indicators are generated for entertainment and personal insight. They are not objective measurements or predictions of any real relationship and say nothing about the character, suitability, honesty or safety of any person.

The App and its output should not be relied on for consequential decisions — including decisions relating to health or medical treatment, finances, legal matters, employment, housing, education, or whether to begin, continue or end a relationship.

If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, please contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional. The App is not a crisis service.

Privacy between users. Karma Match is not a social network. Your profile, birth data, connections and readings are private by default and are not visible to other users.

4. Automated and AI-generated content

Charts are generated using established astrological methods. Some horoscope texts, interpretations and compatibility descriptions may be produced or refined using artificial intelligence and other automated technologies.

You acknowledge that such content:

• may be general, incomplete, inaccurate or inconsistent, and may vary between generations for the same input;
• is produced automatically and is not reviewed by a person before it is displayed;
• is provided without any warranty as to accuracy, reliability, originality or fitness for any purpose;
• does not constitute advice and creates no professional relationship between you and us.

You are responsible for how you interpret and act on content in the App and should exercise your own judgment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for any action taken, or not taken, on the basis of such content. Content that appears offensive or clearly incorrect may be reported to [email protected].

5. The data you enter

Readings depend entirely on the birth data provided. Inaccurate or approximate data — in particular an approximate time of birth — will produce different results. We are not responsible for the accuracy of data you provide, or for readings affected by it.

6. Information about other people

The App allows you to enter another person's birth data in order to compare charts. By doing so you represent and warrant that:

• where required by applicable law, you have a lawful basis to enter and process that person's birth data;
• the person is 16 or older — the birth data of anyone under 16 may not be entered;
• you will not use the App, or any output relating to that person, to harass, monitor, screen, discriminate against or otherwise adversely affect them;
• you will not use any output in connection with decisions relating to their employment, housing, credit, insurance, education, immigration status or access to any service;
• you will remove their data if they ask you to.

You are responsible for information about other people that you enter into the App, and you agree to indemnify us under Section 12 in respect of any related third-party claim.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the App unlawfully or in breach of applicable law;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
• submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful, harassing, obscene or infringing;
• attempt to access the App, its systems or another user's account without authorisation, or interfere with or disrupt the service;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
• use automated means to access, extract or copy content;
• use content or output from the App to train or evaluate machine-learning models;
• resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the App or its content, or present its output as your own service;
• remove proprietary notices or circumvent access or subscription controls.

We may investigate suspected breaches and take such action as we consider appropriate, including suspending or terminating access.

8. Subscriptions and payments

Tiers. Karma Match may offer a free tier with limited functionality and a paid subscription providing access to additional features. The features available in each tier, and the name, duration and price of each subscription option, are those displayed in the App at the time of purchase, and may change.

Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions are auto-renewable. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically for a further period at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged within 24 hours prior to the end of that period. Subscriptions may be managed or cancelled in your Apple account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

Free trials. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited on purchase of a subscription. If the trial is not cancelled before it ends, the subscription begins and payment will be taken.

Prices may vary by country and include applicable taxes where required. Prices may change for future billing periods, subject to any notice required by law.

Purchases, refunds and statutory rights. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms, including Apple's Standard EULA and Apple Media Services Terms. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies; we are not able to process refunds directly. Digital content is made available immediately upon purchase. Any statutory rights available to you as a consumer, including any applicable right of withdrawal, remain unaffected and may be exercised in accordance with applicable law; you may also contact us at [email protected].

9. Intellectual property

The App and its software, design, interface, graphics, text, logos and content are owned by LANARS AS or its licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are granted.

You retain ownership of the data you enter and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the App and providing the service to you. This licence ends when the relevant data or your account is deleted, subject to the retention position set out in our Privacy Policy.

You may view, save and share your readings for personal, non-commercial purposes, but may not republish, resell or systematically extract content from the App, or use it to develop a competing product.

10. Availability and termination

We aim to keep the App available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The App may be unavailable from time to time, and features may be introduced, modified or discontinued as the App develops.

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access where we consider that these Terms have been breached, that conduct is harmful to us, to users or to third parties, or that this is necessary to comply with applicable law. Where access is terminated for breach, no refund will be due except where required by law.

On termination your licence ends. Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 (in respect of amounts paid), 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 continue to apply.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App or any reading is accurate, complete, reliable or predictive, that the App will meet your expectations, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

11.1 We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, opportunity or anticipated savings, however arising.

11.2 We are not liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on any reading, score or match; from any decision taken or not taken in reliance on the App; from automatically generated content; from inaccuracy in data entered by you or another user; from any dispute or harm between you and another person; from use of another person's data by you, or of your data by another user; from unauthorised access resulting from your failure to protect your credentials; or from the acts or omissions of third parties, including Apple.

11.3 Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising in any twelve-month period shall not exceed the greater of the amount actually paid by you to us in that period or EUR 100.

11.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

12. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LANARS AS, its affiliates, officers, employees and agents against any claim, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use or misuse of the App, your breach of these Terms or of applicable law, information about another person that you entered into the App, your infringement of third-party rights, or any action taken in reliance on content you obtained from the App and shared.

13. Apple App Store terms

If you download Karma Match from the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are between you and LANARS AS, not Apple.
• Apple is not responsible for the App, its content, maintenance or support.
• If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price where applicable.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway. If mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide you with additional rights, those rights remain unaffected.

15. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between us in respect of the App. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will apply to the maximum extent permitted and the remainder will continue in force. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a corporate transaction. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These Terms are written in English; where a translation is provided, the English version prevails unless applicable law requires otherwise.

We may amend these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where changes are material, provide notice by appropriate means. Continued use of the App after such changes indicates acceptance. If you do not accept the amended Terms, please stop using the App and delete your account.
